Applicants must not be closer in relationship than second cousins. The legal age for obtaining a marriage license without parental consent is 18. Their license will only be valid in that County. Out-of-State residents getting married in Ohio must obtain a license in the County where the ceremony will take place. The license is valid anywhere in the State of Ohio. Ohio residents must obtain a marriage license within the county where either applicant resides (at least one of the applicants must be a resident of Greene County for a marriage license to be issued by the Greene County Probate Court). However, if you need to reschedule an appointment, please call and reschedule with the marriage clerk. After you have entered all of your information, it will give you the option to schedule your appointment. In order to schedule online you must use the prompt below that says "Begin Marriage Application Process Online". Please note: Appointments cannot be made over the phone or in person. The Court issues Marriage Licenses by appointment only. If you pay by e-check, credit card or debit card a convenience fee will be added to your total. If the check is dishonored for any reason, there will also be a $50.00 returned check charge and a $25.00 administrative fee. We will not issue a Certified Copy of Marriage Record until your check has cleared and payment is confirmed. If you pay by check, issuance of the marriage license is conditioned on the check clearing the bank. 
You may pay this fee in cash, by credit card, debit card or check drawn on a local bank made payable to Greene County Probate Court. Our Court does not perform marriage ceremonies.Įffective January 1, 2020, the fee for a marriage license is $70.00. The Greene County Probate Court Marriage License Bureau only issues the marriage license.
